I got this book for my ten year old to spark her interest in American history and with the presidential elections coming up I thought this would be a great time to talk to her about the history of the presidents. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered this book but I was pleasantly surprised at the neat pieces of information on each president. I thought there would be a few paragraphs on each president and a photograph. While there is a photograph/ painting of each president the amount of information on each is a couple of sentences long. So I decided that since it’s not that long on each president I will read it to my six year old as well.I would recommend this book for anyone that would like to read to their kids about the history of their presidents. Although younger kids can’t read the book it’s not beyond their comprehension to have it read to them! It’s a great read to share as a family and can lead to many conversations.I was given this book at a free or reduced rate in exchange for providing an honest and unbiased review.5th Grade American History: American Presidents: Fifth Grade Books US Presidents for Kids (Children's US Presidents & First Ladies)
The fifth grade American history American presidency book is definitely a great resource for elementary students. This ebook starts with the current President Barack Obama and makes moves all the way back to the first president George Washington. I really like the format in which the book is written and I love the fact that they started with the current president instead of like most of the present book starting with George Washington. The book is set up so that it gives you the president's name and then what number the president was and then gives one fact about that particular President that makes them stand out from all the rest.☆ examples of some of facts ☆" Andrew Jackson was the only president to have been a prisoner of war"." Benjamin Harrison was the first president to have electricity in the White House"" Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected president for 4 terms"The book also covers what years each president held office. This ebook is 15 pages long and has a picture of all the presidents from Franklin Roosevelt back to George Washington. However the pictures between Barack Obama and Harry S Truman there are nine pictures missing. Some of the photos of the presidents, are just photos of statues, which is fine by me. Adding pictures to all the presidents is the only improvement I can think of for this book. This book says 5th grade but I honestly can see this being used for multiple grades not just 5th grade. I think this would be a great resource for elementary as well as middle school. It makes a great refresher or reminder when they forget who was the 22nd president for example. Overall I really liked the book and would change my rating to five stars if they added the other photos. My 6th grade son really like this book as well and I will be adding it to his tablet. As a parent I would be willing to buy this book for my kids for their tablets. Right now as I am reviewing this, it is available for free on Kindle. Can you name them, if not get this book it will tell you each of the presidents, when they served and any thing else interesting about them while in office. Such as George H. Bush is also the Father of a president.Between George H. Bush and John F. Kennedy there were five presidents can you name them, if not get this book.Bill Clinton was the 42nd president and the interesting fact about him is that he was the 3rd youngest president to serve the USA.Warren G. Harding was the 29th president and he was the first president to speak on the radio while Herbert Hoover the 31st President was the first to have a telephone sitting on his desk. William McKinley the 25th president was the first to ride in an automobile. Rutherford B. Hayes was the first president to have an Easter Egg roll at the white house. John Tyler who was the 10th president who was the only president to have two wives and father more than 15 children. Andrew Jackson was the 7th president and served between 1829-1837 and was the only president to have been a prisoner of war. George Washington was the 1st president of the US and the only president to be elected unanimously.The pictures of all 44 presidents with the terms they served (as well as years) and an interesting fact about that president.My grandson is in the 2nd grade and home schooled but he is an avid reader and would enjoy this book for his US history lessons.
