this book, like many about the Raspberry Pi is disingenuous from the start... the Raspberry Pi may run open-source software, but it is *not* open-source hardware! if you want to verify this, check out Wikipedia's open-source hardware listings:the Raspberry Pi, in all its variants, is *not* open-source hardware... these single-board computers rely on *closed-source* binary 'blobs' or firmware files from Broadcom... the fact that one of the authors of this book fails to detail this aspect of the Raspberry Pi is not good - it is lying by omission...that said, this book does have some interesting and helpful chapters... for example, the detailed description of attaching and using a camera to the Raspberry Pi's camera port and the details about available software is very niceanother chapter, regarding electronics tools and soldering is also instructive..unfortunately, there is short shrift given to I2C and SPI configurations, error-handling in Python code and other details... but you will find this to be one of the first books on the market to accurately describe the v1.3 Raspberry Pi Zerothis is a biased book by an obviously interested host - it's not a bad book but not up to Derek Molloy's RPI tome
Good book. Covers everything it should. I just wish It could spend less time on installing and creating an image card. All the books and websites cover that. Maybe it could say 'since all the books and sites cover these basic operations, here's some common problems' and help folks fix those. You know, a brief chapter on imaging the card and installing, then more robust sections on the troubleshooting.
A great introduction to the pi and it's history. Also includes some educational programming examples for beginners to help give you an idea of the many things you can do with this tiny computer.
It really good book it's explain in a manner in the more simple way for some one like me that's is trying to get into this wonderful and ample world. I think touch every aspect and basic part of the pi. It give very amply or better idea in what is the pi and what you can do. ...

Well written but not enough detail for me. There were some cookbook instructions but it was largely just an exposition of the Raspberry Pi's features, almost like a very verbose sales brochure.
Good introduction to micro computer
Standard user information that saves searching on line. Has a few tidbits that were helpful.
You do really need this upgraded user guide for your RPi3. I'd not known about the hot CPU without it.
