Fair Warning: This book does end on a cliffhanger. So if you don't like cliffhangers don't read it, or if you do want to read it wait until more books in the series are out; so you don't have to wait. This book also contains a lot of sex with the MC having sex with different people, if that's not something that floats your boat then this book isn't for you. In the way of plot or character development in this book there wasn't much at all. (Maybe because it's only the first book, in what I assume, is going to be a slightly lengthier series?) There was a kind of lightbulb moment that happened at the end of the book, but I don't know if that can be considered development. At times I felt as though story/character development took a backseat to the sex.There was also quite a few typos, but they didn't really draw you away that much from the story.All that aside, it was a quick read and I did enjoy the story enough that I will continue on with the series and read the next book when it's released.
There wasn't much going on in this book except sex. Lots of sex. Nothing else really happened and I really really don't like the heroine. If you like your books heavy on sex scenes (with m/f/f/m) and aren't worried about a plot, world building, character insight or anything making much sense, then this might just be the book for you. I feel like I wasted my money.
On the upside, it didn't cost me anything. On the downside, it was like a cotton candy feast - sounds great but in the end not at all satisfying. Let's see, at the very least we had smutty shifter sex, a strange master vampire link, and a (probably) dead Chicago team. Any of these could make a good story on their own, but Marie just threw them into the plot, no details, and kept going. What a mess.
A barely interesting narrative of an alcoholic ex-cop screwing her way through the shifter community in London to spite a vampire who bit her and is now psychically linked to her mind - but nobody can explain why. Characters are flat and uninteresting, sex scenes are clumsily worded, and the author really needs an editor to clean up errors and repetitive phrasing. From other reviews, the anticlimactic ending is supposed to be a cliffhanger... more of a headscratcher. I'll pass on the rest of the series.
Charlotte, now known as Charlie Rose, walked distractedly down the street, almost getting hit by a car. She absently touched the old puncture wounds on her neck. She had been bitten by a vampire during a raid by her team, but for some reason she never became one. So instead she remained in hiding, using sage which was rumored to block any paranormal connections; however, the mental connection to him grew stronger every day. If she tried to leave the area, the farther she went, the more her mind would start to blank. So she was stuck in London, drinking herself senseless every night.This night, there was a long line at the pub! Apparently a shifter group was going to be coming in later and the groupies wanted to be there for them. But the regular drinkers, like Charlie, were allowed in for a short time before the shifters arrived. As she sat at the bar drinking her beer, a stranger sat down and tried to talk with her. She made it plain she wanted to be alone, but he wouldn’t leave. She inhaled and felt a roar in her head – what had set the vampire off? Ahhh, the scent of the man beside her was wolf!It seemed the mental link with the vampire indicated how angry he was. When she returned home, two vampires had tracked her and took her to the Master. Erik was as confused as she was about her not turning and her being able to hide so long from him. She finally asked him to just kill her, and he told her to leave. The mental link seemed permanent, but neither of them understood why. What did this mean? Were they linked forever? Would the shifter come back into her life? And what would her life be like now?This was a good read and has great potential for the future adventures to come. Despite the difficult situation, I admired Charlie’s spunky attitude. This is definitely one series I intend to follow.
First of all I didn't know that this is a cliffhanger! I don't like them at all. With that said I did like the storyline and the characters. There was something's I thought should have been addressed but I guess it's carried over into the next book. I thought James was amazing but I didn't find more about him like I wanted. And poor Erik I really didn't get all of his thing either. And Charlie is stuck in middle.
The story line started well and I enjoyed the sex scenes mostly, there is too much however in such a very short story.The main character was self-centred and not likeable at all, the support characters (the vampires and shifters) were pretty much spot on.I really didn't like the I've made a mistake and I'm hurting someone "oh poor me" I'm going to run away and make them suffer more scene.
Nicole? I am in awe! Even though I may not quite agree with your ending? This had me crying at the end! My hat is off to you. People, if you're in the mood for a really good story; that it actually touches your heart? This book is for you!
