#90,950 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

I haven't made my mind up regarding man's role in climate change, and bought this book looking forward to listening to the arguments from "the other side". What a disappointment that instead of a book written by scientists explaining the ways in which the case for man-made climate change may have been exaggerated I ended up with this pamphlet written by a bunch of emeriti professors who studied climate science in the 50s, several journalists (including the executive editor of Breitbart.com in London) and an 86-year-old former Conservative MP in the UK whose claims---including that global temperatures have been cooling since the 70's---have been repeatedly shown to be false.I'm a researcher by training, with a PhD in Statistics. My specialization has nothing to do with climate science, but it has trained me to distinguish snake-oil peddlers from true scientists, and the writers of this book fall in the first category. You see, when true scientists speak, they do so in terms of probabilities. They recognize that the consequences of climate change are difficult to predict many decades in advance, and hence give us lots of "maybes" and confidence intervals. Charlatans like the ones who wrote this book are full of certainties. The introduction presents the coming chapters as "dismiss[ing] the possibility of devastating consequences" from climate change, "showing that any human effect on climate is trivial", "exploding the myth" that the majority of scientists believe that human-induced climate change is likely and serious. Oh what a joy it must be to live in a world devoid of doubt and uncertainty. The best part of the introduction is that which says that "we cannot have intelligent public discourse until people set aside appeals to expertise and develop some expertise of their own". I suppose that if the editor ever has to (God forbid!) deal with an accute case of appendicitis he will follow his own advice and set aside appeals to expertise from the hospital's head surgeon, waiting to decide whether to have the appendix removed until he has developped some expertise of his own.I'm still on the look for a compelling case against man-made climate change. This pamphlet is not it (unless, of course, you believe that evolution is a hoax made up by evil scientists).

Never form your beliefs based on information you receive from journalists or politicians. Be suspicious of anyone or anything funded by the government. Read this book with an open mind and you will see parts of the truth. Take the red pill.

In depth look at the science and evidence for Climate Change. Climate changes. Always has, and always will. Each chapter covers one core area of basic science, and research, which make up Climate Science. There is also good information about the History of Science, and the Scientific Method. For example, Kuhn, Happer, Feynman, et al, are quoted, discussed, and referenced.Good for the scientifically interested, as well BS, MS, and graduate studies.

I just finished the book (1/2019) and liked it a lot. Because it was written in 2015, at times I wished some of the data had been more up-to-date, and the order of the articles didn't really flow one into the next. But a good representation of the counter arguments to the global warming crowd's "sky is falling" position. By the way, I see that the UAH satellite data just released shows 2018 as the 6th warmest year since 1998 with 2016, 1998, 2017, 2010, and 2015 all being warmer. So for the last 20 years the earth has not warmed, but the global warming crowd won't admit to it.

For those interested in an alternative view on climate change and its asserted man-made causes this book will be a good start, even though at times it engages in the same kind of vituperation that is characteristic of those individuals who support the doctrine of climate change, and rally behind it with unequaled enthusiasm. Indeed, the exchange of harsh words on both sides of the “aisle” of climate change reminds one of the shouting matches that took place in the “debate” on AC and DC power that took place early in the twentieth century. The dialog in the AC/DC power “debate” was unpalatable from both a social and scientific point of view, and served no useful purpose in arriving at an eventual decision. It seems at times that the “debate” over climate change is competing for the chance to be one that is marked with an overabundance of ridicule and rage. There are a lot of gems in this book from the standpoint of the reviewer who is just beginning to examine the scientific evidence both for and against man-made (anthropogenic) climate change. Each one of these however needs to be critically examined along with the supporting references that are quoted in the book. As such one should not expect a book of this length to contain the evidence that supports the claims that are made between its covers. Readers therefore who want to understand the arguments against (and for) anthropogenic climate change, and like the reviewer have a strong scientific background in areas not dealing with, both serving as a foundation for climate science, can expect to spend a considerable amount of time in obtaining this understanding. There are no short-cuts in scientific understanding, and unfortunately there are those on both sides of the “debate” that do not even have even a rudimentary understanding of the fundamentals of physics or data analysis. How to deal with uncertainties in measurement data and how to deal with errors in simulation models are just two examples, and both of these are actively discussed in the book. An understanding of these fundamentals is absolutely crucial if one is to make claims on the role of humans in climate change or global warming. It is fair to say that climate change is now political doctrine, and like most doctrines permits no deviation from its policies and edicts. It eschews (and fears) critical thinking, and puts emphasis on marketing and propaganda, rather than on experimentation and facts derived from careful analysis. For those with a sincere desire for the raw, naked truth behind climate change, and climate science in general, this book will hopefully be one of many others that will assist in fostering a healthy skepticism about the subject.

I mistakenly bought this book based on the description on amazon. It made it look like it was a climate change fact book, but is in direct opposite. Its based on their won facts. These individuals know how to confuse the subject so that average readers with only small amount of climate change knowledge are easily confused by their writings. The know ho to cherry pick the data and mislead people.
