Be sure to read the small print. I used the "look inside" feature from this site. So I was expecting the songbook that has 101 songs with a different format. I received the 50 songs songbook. So I went back to this site and read:This view is of the Paperback edition (2000) from Hal Leonard. The Paperback edition (2008) from Hal Leonard that you originally viewed is the one you'll receive if you click the Add to Cart button on the left. In my opinion, the "look inside" feature should not be available unless it matches exactly.
I ordered this book because I needed songs that can be used with kids who are ages anywhere from 5 to 17 to adult.This book includes a majority of the songs I remembered from my youth. Our church is trying a new program this year of providing school supplies after a day of fun activities. We will involve the kids in the music experience during the registration time.The songs that especially interested me were: "Do Lord", "Arky, Arky", " Zacchaeus", "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands", "If You are Happy" ...upbeat songs that the kids can have fun with. There are many other songs that we will consider too. They are simple enough arrangements that I will be able to play (I am not the most accomplished pianist). We are providing rhythm instruments for them to accompany us to add to the fun.
I was expecting simple chord progressions as children songs often are, but there were many complicated measures with notes that were not necessary for a children setting. Most of the songs were in a lower key that made up-beat songs seem dull and mellow.

This book was a very good example of children's Christian songs from long ago. They are still wonderful to sing and use, especially in a Bible or Sunday School environment. Use of the motions that we were taught as a child, were used with the songs, also.Thank you for these wonderful songs!
The lyrics and melodies of the songs are well selected for a child's vocal range and interest. Most of these songs will be recognized by the children's parents as well.
